My favorite so far March 15, 2010 Stacy O'farrell (SF Bay Area) I have owned 4 GPS's in the last 10 years and this one has been my favorite so far. I love the new features. Lane assist works great in Northern California and the live traffic seems pretty accurate
Disappointed March 14, 2010 Richard Borden I owned the Garmin 660 and decided to upgrade to the 765/765T when Amazon had it on sale. I am disappointed in sharpness of the graphics. The 660 was clear and the lines demarcated. The graphics on his unit seems blurred in comparison. Another very annoying feature is the pop up advertisements. I do like the lane assist and the automatic time update but other than that I would prefer my 660.
This is crap March 14, 2010 JayR (Dallas, TX) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Garmin has slipped up big-time. I guess they're getting arrogant like Toyota; when you're the biggest player in the market, I guess it is customary to rest on your laurels and coast instead of improving your product. I bought this in January 2010 and right out of the box, the touch screen is horribly inaccurate. No matter how often I recalibrated or reset the device, it did not work properly. I'd press an "E" and an "O" would pop up on screen. Buttons would press by themselves if you pressed one on the opposite side of the screen. The touchscreen sensitivity is a known issue for Garmin, but they obviously do not care. Come on, Garmin, do some dang quality control. How do you send crap out like that in a new box?
Then, the routing was just as ridiculous. It would have me go straight, then make four left turns in succession, leading me back to the same street I was already driving on. What in the world? It would also choose inefficient routes and the lane assistance is a joke. I live in Dallas, and with all of the highways, toll roads, and service streets we have here, I should see lane assistance pop up more than twice. In fact, Dallas is kicking this Garmin's a$$. It can't tell if I'm on a main highway or a service road that runs parallel to it.
Despite all of this, the graphics were nice and I might have actually kept the thing if it weren't for the touchscreen issues. Almost all GPS's have routing issues of some sort, but I draw the line at the interface. If I have to keep repressing buttons to get it to work, and if Garmin thinks it is acceptable to release this crap, then I'm going to another manufacturer.
Does Get Me Around March 12, 2010 D. Grattidge (Northern VA) The Garmin nuvi 765/765T works as promised and in the DC area that is an advantage for getting around traffic backups or those situations when I must abandon a preferred route. It is easy to use, has the necessary features for my needs, receives satellite signals well, and does provide adequate traffic notifications. The only drawbacks are the display - it would be nice to have an extra half inch or so - and the accuracy which really isn't off by much if one is familiar with area and knows the real distance before having to make a turn. Overall, I'm satisfied with the product and would buy another Garmin in the future.
First time Nuvi user March 12, 2010 R. Frost I have only used this device once as my intended use was for business trips, but I have been happy with the features and options. My only complaint about this unit so far is that I feel like I have fat fingers when touching the screen. The screen sensitivity could be better, as I often end up pushing (or at least it thinks I pushed) the wrong button on the unit, requiring me to back up. Otherwise, I have been happy so far.
