We bought this Garmin for a recent road trip and were very please with its ease of use, consistent performance, and versatility. For the first time in years, we did not plan our route in advance and print out multiple Google or Yahoo maps to take us to our location. The freedom of on the fly mapping and routing was alomst the highlight of our trip. Whe we rolled into our destination at 9:00 PM and found out that our intended hotel was booked, we were able to use the Points of Interest feature to locate several alternatives nearby with ease. The best part was that we had already paired our blue tooth phone with the garmin. When the hotel list came up, it automatically provided the hotel phone numbers and gave us the option to call to check the rates before driving over.
We enjoyed using the Garmin so much that now we don't want to leave the house without it and especially like the Go Home feature. One button and we are on our way. We have discovered that some of our normal routes home are not actually the quickest.
Thanks Garmin for a reliable and easy to use product.

The more I use this, the more I love it. I download addresses from Google and Bing, and Bing is by far more accurate, and all I do is follow the GPS to where I need to go. In one day, I go to up to 60 different addresses, and it is nice just to follow the GPS without having to do anything. One feature that is needed is to be able to import addresses from Excel like Streets and Trips does. If this feature was available, it would save me hours.

Garmin does not have even service centers and the technical support number wont be accessible at all.

The Garmin 1490T is an excellent product. Takes me everywhere I want to go. Did not work as well in Puerto Rico however.

After updating the software and maps, I began a 6,000 mile vacation. The 1490T rebooted after about 30 miles and continued to reboot dozens of times throughout my journey. At one point, I reinstalled the software but it continued to reboot. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT AS IT IS CRAP!
