If you are interested in purchasing a great tool for the open road. And YOU are a truck driver...this product is for you. I am pleased to report MANY facts and opinions as to WHY I love this product. And unfortunately...ONE Negative. First off, you cannot please everyone in the trucking business. As a driver for 9 yrs. I do not even try. PC Miler has tried though and succeeded, on more than one of their products. This particular product 'the NAV540 GPS' is specifically for truck drivers! It is easy to install, easy to see, read & understand. However, the factory set sound is a bit of a bummer. The voice clarity is exceptional, whereas; the level of the voice sound, at it's highest; is hard to hear while YOUR diesel engine is running. Factor in the cb radio, and stereo, plus...the qualcomm...and well, you are not gonna hear it very well. Which is why I praise the screen size, clarity, etc. I wish this unit...(for as much as was paid) could be heard through the existing speakers already installed for the stereo. I wish it had bluetooth so you could at least hear instructions through the cb radio if IT has bluetooth.
At any rate, this particular device has US, and Canadian maps. Unfortunately no maps of Mexico. I have been using this product for 3 months now and have NO complaints with the exception of the aforementioned. This device would be state-of-the-art if it had maps of Mexico, better sound, or alternative options for receiving sound. And a USB port to download updates instantly.
Still, I think you will find that this device is more than handy, as you can...set the voice to either male or female. Set the unit to tell you your eta, distance AND speed. This device WILL allow you to hook up an auxilliary speaker. Keep in mind if you are gonna go that route...it is best to find a speaker that has a volume knob on the speaker, and that it goes as LOUD as YOU would like it. You can set this unit up so that it knows your dimensions 13feet 6 inches is NORMAL trailer height by 96inches wide (or 102). You can set it up for Over size, overheight, overwidth, & overweight, but not overlength. You can ask the unit to bypass tolls if applicable. Sometimes you cannot avoid tolls. You can ask it or set it up rather to avoid weigh stations. Sometimes you cannot avoid these stations or if you do...it may or may not be a truck route. For the most part...this unit can and will help you run outlaw if that is what you want to do. I DO NOT RECOMMEND it because the LAW has one helluva hammer! Still, you are big boy or girl. Free to make your own decisions. I must say...purchasing this tool was a great decision on my part. And if you save your receipt or download it...it is tax deductible. Hope this review help's. Peace.

I drive a truck and the gps did not work even one whole nite I called tech support and they gave me a run around and on my second trip out it did not work at all it was just froze up so buy a garmen if your smart

This was purchased by a company for Semi truck drivers mainly going to Chicago. Notifies them of all low bridges and other road situations that would cause delays in deliveries. Received PCM440 quickly. Easy to use.
